Hey guys, welcome back to Class Cancelled! Now this is a different format change to what we’re used to but our team is at home practicing self-quarantining! For the rest of the semester you can find us on here bringing you guys blogs with some video content. Now let’s jump into the blog!
With everything that is happening especially in Akron we can see some businesses are struggling. I decided for this week I would show you the most iconic breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot in Akron! Attached above is the video of me trying the foods and talking about each place but make sure to keep reading to get a more in-depth review of each restaurant!
For our first stop, we have breakfast which is the most important meal of the day! Akron has a ton of awesome breakfasts spots like Akron Family Restaurant, Eye Opener, and Fred’s Diner, but for today we are talking about Wally Waffle!
Wally Waffle is most known for their waffles and each waffle offers something unique to the table. You can have a classic plain waffle or spice it up with a funnel cake waffle. Even if waffles aren’t your taste they offer a variety of breakfast foods and some lunch if you want that instead.
At Wally Waffle I got a chocolate chip waffle with a side of bacon! (My personal favorite to get) While my boyfriend got his personal favorite which is the Big Daddy. The Big Daddy is your traditional breakfast and is one of their top items on the menu!
Now for the taste test, it was amazing as usual! With the chocolate chip waffle you get your sweet while the bacon provides you with the salty. For the Big Daddy, it provides you with so much food it could honestly serve as two meals if you get stuffed. The traditional breakfast is definitely a must especially if you don’t want anything too crazy. Even though you can’t get Wally Waffle in person right now they’re doing carryout orders! According to Wally Waffle, their mission is to “serve a fun, creative breakfast menu with a smile”. And let me tell you it will surely bring a smile to your face.
Moving on, we have the most iconic lunch spot! Now if you’re from Akron I feel like you should know what it is, but if you’re not from the area it’s Swensons! Swensons originated from Akron and has now expanded with some new locations in Columbus, Ohio. Swensons opened in 1934 and has been an iconic lunch spot since then.
Swensons is most known for their Galley Boy, which is a double cheeseburger with two special sauces on a toasted bun topped with a green olive! With Swensons being the home
of the Galley boy you know this is what I had to get.
I got the Galley Boy, onion rings, and a Florida. The onion rings were nice and crispy and honestly were gigantic! The Galley Boy has elements of being smokey yet sweet. Not to mention, the toasted bun with melted cheese cannot be beat. Lastly, the Florida beverage is my favorite! It’s like an orange soda mixed with lemonade! All of these factors of this meal definitely makes this a must-have lunch!
Swensons says “they are delighted to serve you fresh, made-to-order, high quality food while doing whatever it takes to make your visit fun and memorable”. Personally, every time I’ve gone to Swensons no matter who I am with it’s always a fun time! If you’ve never been to Swensons then what are you waiting for?
Last on our stop is the most iconic dinner spot. For dinner we chose Luigi’s Restaurant! Luigi’s is an Italian restaurant that has been serving Akron since 1949. With a variety of Italian cuisine their award winning item is their pizza!
For dinner we had to get their cheese pizza and it didn’t disappoint. The pizza was served like a pan pizza and was one of the fluffiest pizzas I’ve ever had. You can definitely tell why it is considered award winning.
Even though we only got the pizza, Luigi’s has really good garlic bread, ravioli, and their salad with a mountain of cheese on top!
I hope you enjoyed getting to hear about the most iconic breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots in Akron! Hopefully you can check them out soon but in the meantime make sure to follow us at our social media to keep up to date with us!
Stay safe and support your local businesses!
